Notes and Information

This individual, alongside two other young bulls imported from the Copenhagen Zoo in 1977, were the first walruses in Japan since Protodobenus japonicus of the early Pliocene age.

This group of walruses remained at Copenhagen for a year and a half following capture.

This animal passed away 37 days after transfer to Izu-Mito, his cause of death being listed as circulatory failure brought on by capture stress syndrome.
