Notes and Information

This walrus was part of a herd of 12 imported to SeaWorld San Diego in 1973, claimed to be "the largest capture of walruses in history" of the time by park curator Ed Asper. These pups were intended to stock exhibits at SeaWorld San Diego and SeaWorld Orlando.

Although I do not have specific dates, it was reported by the US Fish & Wildlife Service in August of 1974 that all 12 of these walruses had passed away due to "dietary problems".
