In 2016 a park guest was held underwater by the park's bull walrus, Anan, having either fallen from an above-water viewing walkway with no protective rails, or having been inside the walrus exhibit (which was intentionally designed to allow guests inside for viewing and interactions) and pushed into the water by Anan. A park employee attempted to enter the water and rescue the guest; both men drowned.

Bull walrus Anan was relocated to another habitat within the park around April of 2024. It is unknown at this time where in the park the new habitat is located, or whether or not cow Pingping accompanied him.
