I have no exact information on this animal's age and date of transfer into China; I only know that a May 2011 article referenced he and Pingping as being seven years old. The earliest I've been able to visually confirm the pups as living at the park was October 2006.
This animal was referenced as Daya 大牙, meaning "big teeth", in media reports from 2016.
Anan was involved in an incident in 2016 in which a park guest fell into his enclosure and was held in the water by the animal, as well as a staff member who entered the exhibit to attempt a rescue. Both men drowned as a result.
