Meli was said to be 4 years old in November of 2014.
CITES records show an importation of two walruses into South Korea in 2013, which is all but certainly Meli and Angli entering the country in preparation for the opening of Aqua Planet Ilsan in 2014. It is possible that Meli may have been initially transferred to Aqua Planet Jeju upon arrival to South Korea; it is noteworthy that Angli remained at Jeju when the Ilsan facility opened, and is not known to have ever been transferred out.
